new middle-ings (as opposed to beginnings or endings)

today, as with almost every day, i had a conversation with a dear friend who never hesitates to peel back my eyelids and help me to understand myself better. even when i find myself fighting her. ah, she is good medicine.

i really need to rethink my life, and where it is going, how it is getting there. i keep finding myself wandering slightly to the left or right, trying to tweak things a bit, trying to force things in my life to fit onto my narrow path. it is time to let go of trying to control others by reasoning or leading by example. i should just be who i am because i want to be and not expect anything in return. much less frustrating.

another friend of mine recently told me that she has noticed that i have a problem with sitting still in my surroundings. i've always got to make things more difficult, i don't know how to live an uncomplicated life.

well...

i'll show 'em... i'll show 'em all!!

here's to simplifying my life:
  • i won't get chickens until i've finished school. if i do, the most will be 2.
  • i won't grow a garden until i have the time to manage one. if i decide to after all, i'll only get rosemary and oregano, they are fairly easy to maintain.
  • when i'm ready to date, i'll start off with women. and i'll at least wait until i'm 30. (oooh, that's gonna suck: divorced, single parent, overweight, no job, no education, aaaand 30)
  • i won't take photography or guitar classes until i'm done with school.
  • quit smoking and join a gym. gym is actually cheaper.

now let's see if i can pull this shit off...

Yay! No chickens until after school's finished. Oh wait...damn, that means we can't eat 'em for a few years.

I think you have a LOT to enjoy right now. I'm glad to hear that you aren't going to distract yourself from what you already have.

Don't take on more than you can enjoy. But, uh, can you wax my pits today?

Indeed, Mulysa, you have lots to enjoy. Don't let a yearning for what you don't have blind you from all the good things you already have.

Take it from a simple, yet complicated life-form... ;)
