some dusty things

i was really missing my grandpa tonight and decided to go through a couple of his things that i brought home with me from my visit to sacramento in sept. it's kinda neat when i find myself thinking of something someone has said to me right when i need to remember it.

one of the things that were in the little treasures i brought home was some sort of savings bond or other gov't note. i decided to scan it. the paper has a nice weight to it, and it seems authentic. wouldn't it be neat if i could find the descendants (i don't think it belongs to my family line - just a feeling) and pass it along?

what would you do if someone gave you a $1000, 166 yr-old matured note? from your great-great-great-great granddad?

i'd buy some chickens!

If that note had any type of transferability, it may be worth a lot more than $1,000. And even if it did not, it may still be worth quite a bit to a collector.
