this very morning, i was taking the monkeys to their zoos. i have a very extensive collection of kids' songs in my ipod (disney music, dragon tales, strawberry shortcake, etc...). we are listening to a song from the movie "Beauty and the Beast" called "the mob song" in which a character rallies the frightened village folk into storming the beasts' castle. so it went something like this:
song: "the beast will make off with your children in the night!"
D1: "did he just say the beast will make OUT with the children or make OFF with the children?!"
i hung my head and put my hand to my mouth to emphasize my shock that he would say such a thing, but it was really to hide the fit of giggles that was coming on.
of course the other two in the back, D2 and D3 didn't even try to refrain from rolling laughing. they laughed for a while about the joke, it gets quiet in the car, and then my 6 year old, D3 says,
"hey, what does "making out" mean?"
the boys couldn't stop busting up for the rest of the drive to school...

Hi Miss! I'm glad you stopped by and finally figured out my f-ed up posting system! You know, it seems to me I was reading your blog a way ways back, something about missing the garbage man? This is what works for me...every year like Thankscrapping or XXX-Mas, I leave a little something for him on top of the dumpster, usually chocolate in a gift bag. Anyway, he totally comes and empties my dumpster when I forget to put it out. Equally good results with a six pack of Newcastle! Hope you had a nice birthday! Heidi & True
